''Doggy heaven!'  Roy and Sue Darby, October 2006
With a nature trail and 20 acres of open space for 'walkies' on site, this is a perfect holiday location for dogs and their owners.  There are dog-friendly beaches at Start Bay and the historic village of Slapton boasts two excellent ‘dogs welcome’ pubs. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in all our cottages except The Owlery so please contact us with your specific requirements.

Facilities: Children WelcomeChildren Welcome

Children will love the fresh air and freedom here at Dittiscombe. There is a play area set under the trees with a picnic table, swings, slide, climbing wall, sand pit, trampoline for the under 5s, and a living-willow wigwam to hide in. There is also a separate flat area for ball games. Children can go on safaris around our nature trail and the nature pack provided in each cottage will help to identify local wildlife.
'We really loved Dittiscombe and in particular the sensitive way the valley has been developed. The ponds and wildlife were a real eye-opener for our London children.' The Leary Family, London, May 2006.

Nature WalksNature Trail

Our conservation valley here at Dittiscombe is an environmental haven for plants, flowers and wildlife. Guests are able to watch the local wildlife from the comfort of their private gardens, or stroll around 20 acres of open space past stream-fed ponds and through woodland, perhaps stopping to rest on seats along the way to take in the wonderful views.

'Warm welcome, beautifully appointed cottage, stunning scenery. Who could ask for more?' Jack & Eileen Osborn, April 2006

We provide our guests with a 25% discount on golf and leisure facilities at Dartmouth Golf & Country Club (just 5 miles from here), which includes 9 and 18-hole courses, a gym, sauna and swimming pool.

We are able to recommend a variety of stunning walks around this area. Guests can leave their car and take the local green lane walk from Dittiscombe to Slapton village (2 miles) where there are two child and dog-friendly pubs serving good local food.  Within the village there is also the walk around Slapton Ley Nature Reserve, and a half-mile further on there is the South West Coast Path and the beach at Slapton Sands with clean, safe bathing and beautiful views of the bay and Start Point Lighthouse.
